Basket Pressed Grenache
Wine
Kay Brothers Basket Pressed Grenache draws from an east facing slope below the winery in McLaren Vale. The sunny aspect is often tempered by cooling afternoon breezes.
The vines, situated on shallow red sandy loams over gravel, are hand harvested. The fruit is fermented on skins in the winery's original open fermenters, receiving hand plunging for up to two weeks.
Gentle basket pressing in a traditional 1928 press results in a soft, rich wine. It matures for 8-10 months in seasoned French oak puncheons.
Bright crimson, Kay Brothers Basket Pressed Grenache has juicy red fruit flavours, gentle powdery tannins and refreshing acidity. Cellaring potential is six years.
